Senior SAP Basis Analyst
Salary up to £45,000 depending on experience + pension + quarterly performance related bonus + standby allowance + 25 days annual leave
This role is based in Bradford.
We currently have a vacancy for a Senior SAP Basis Analyst within our SAP Basis function.
As part our business plan we are embarking on a significant technology programme made up of a number of large schemes. Our ‘SAP Programme’ is central to this and will refresh the entire SAP Platform at Yorkshire Water, adopting many of SAP’s latest technologies such as SAP HANA, SAP Mobile Platform, S/4HANA and SAP Cloud Integration. This role is critical to ensuring the new platform is delivered on time and in accordance with our design principles.
What is the purpose of the role?
As a Senior SAP Basis analyst you will lead the enhancement, management and maintenance of the SAP Basis/Netweaver landscape and associated technologies including integration, all through an excellent understanding of business processes, SAP industry best practice and future innovations.
You will work closely with the SAP Platform Architect and the wider SAP team, Senior infrastructure colleagues and external partners providing guidance and strategic input, influencing key technology decisions that will enable the delivery of the company Performance Commitments, Strategic Business Objectives and the Company Vision.
Providing both technical project lead and 3rd line support capabilities through the team, you ensure that services are fit for purpose and fit for use.
What will the role involve?
You will provide technical advice and leadership in the delivery of new and enhanced technical functionality within the SAP Basis/Netweaver landscape that enable business requirements to be met. Working within the project lifecycle identifying tasks and providing realistic estimates for completion, providing detailed technical designs to support technical solutions. Provide 3rd line support for BAU activities throughout the SAP landscapes following change and incident process requirements also supporting 1st and 2nd line colleagues where required.
Acting as Project Technical Lead for large/complex projects, accountable for the overall technical solution, ensuring adherence to the architectural principles and patterns as well as defining new and approved standards and patterns as required, ensuring requirements are accounted for within the solution, inclusion of all appropriate technical tasks and quality assurance measures in the project plan, technical audits at key points in the project where identified, technical risks and issues on the project and the provision of documented and, where possible, automated operational procedures.
There will also be a requirement of the role to be included in the 24/7 standby rota providing out of hours support.
What skills are we looking for?
You will have proven, high-level skills and experience of operating within the SAP Basis function within an enterprise solution. You will have demonstrable ability to develop and maintain effective technical relationships across an enterprise organisation both internally and externally.
You should possess a broad technical knowledge gained in a complex or varied environment such as Infrastructure, Software and/or Hosted Architectures.
Experience of (preferably leading) SAP Platform migrations, upgrades and enhancement pack implementations with experience and knowledge of SAP Basis/Netweaver Administration in the following core areas:
- ABAP and JAVA instance Implementation and Administration
- SAP Sizing and Capacity Management
- SAP Integration Technologies
- SSL / Single Sign-On technologies
- Proactive performance monitoring, detailed system tracing/diagnostics and issue resolution
- SAP client technologies
Experience in the following core SAP Platforms:
- SAP ERP (ECC)
- SAP HANA
- SAP Solution Manager 7.1 or above
- SAP PI / PO
Experience implementing High Availability solutions for SAP technologies, knowledge of SAP Mobility Solutions, knowledge of the Windows Operating system (2008 upwards,) knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 onwards, knowledge of SUSE Linux (SAP HANA.)
- SAP Mobile Platform
- SAP Cloud Integration (Ariba and Successfactors)
- Experience of strategic thinking or influencing a strategic direction
- Direct experience of leading and embedding change.
- Good level of knowledge of Enterprise Architecture, TOGAF or ITIL.
- Commercial management of Technical Partners.
IMPORTANT: MOD clearance is needed to undertake this role and will be completed upon appointment
A full valid EU driving licence is required for this role.
