 We are currently looking to recruit an Electrician to work within our MEICA teams based in the Scarborough area.

 As an Electrician, you will be responsible for the maintenance of Yorkshire Waters Electrical, assets across water and waste water treatment and pumping installations.

 Engineering Reliability has ten multi-disciplined MEICA teams working across the whole Yorkshire region. Each team has its own geographical area of responsibility but on occasions, members will be expected to work on any Yorkshire water asset. This could be during periods of escalation due to adverse weather or similar.

 What will the role involve?

As an Electrician you will be required to work unsupervised in remote geographic locations and be accountable for the completion of planned and reactive Electrical tasks within agreed time-scales, quality and cost parameters.

You will be expected to manage and prioritise your own workload effectively and to build and maintain relationships with operational customers, colleagues, suppliers and contract partners.

You will adhere to Health and Safety policy and standards actively identifying hazards, providing mitigation and reporting onto the company hazard database to ensure the cause of the hazard is removed. Candidates will be required to supervise approved Contract Partners, providing risk assessments and method statements where permit to work is required for a given task. You will also be required to use a Toughbook to capture all work activity and job status in line with work flow processes.

You will assist in the development and training of apprentices as well as less experienced members of the team, identifying ways to improve the value and service delivered by the Maintenance Function. The role will involve install & commission new plant and equipment to relevant standards, diagnose and repair faults on systems and plant. You will pro-actively identify and report follow on work or areas for enhancement. Electricians will conduct their own risk assessments and create appropriate method statements when required to safely carry out maintenance activities. The successful candidate will have the ability to specify parts and equipment required for procurement as part of day to day role.

As part of this role, you will be required to participate in a stand-by rota, covering your base and any other areas when required. This will typically be 1 week in 7.

 You will be required to visit sites across the region therefore a full valid and clean EU driving licence is essential.

Essential Qualifications:

It is essential that you have successfully completed a recognised, a recognised Electrical Craft/Technician Apprenticeship

 Ideally you will also have an City & Guilds/ ONC/ BTEC/ NVQ/ HNC/ HND or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or JIB approved/ equivalent electrician or Eng Tech

 Desirable Qualifications:

  • IET 17th Edition Wiring Regulations City and Guilds 2382
  • IET 17th Edition Inspection & Testing City and Guilds 2394 and 2395
  • CompEx 1 - 4
  • HNC Electrical/Electronic Engineering

     Essential knowledge & experience:

  1. Able to demonstrate safe isolation to the current IET regulations
  2. Time served industrial electrician
  3. Experience of fault finding with industrial motors and starters
  4. Experience fault finding with industrial 3 phase systems
  5. Experience working with rotating equipment
  6. Ability to produce maintenance reports

     Desirable knowledge & experience:

  7. Experience with PLC’s
  8. Experience in Profibus technology
  9. Experience of pneumatics and hydraulics
  10. Work within ATEX standards
  11. Maintenance of High Voltage equipment
  12. Fault finding on LV circuits
  13. Fault finding on control circuits
  14. Experience maintaining pressure, level & flow monitoring systems
  15. JIB approved
