We are recruiting for permanent ICA Technician's in the North, East, South and West Yorkshire areas.

Engineering Reliability has ten multi-disciplined MEICA teams working across the whole Yorkshire region. Each team has its own geographical area of responsibility but on occasions, members will be expected to work on any Yorkshire water asset. This could be during periods of escalation due to adverse weather or similar.

What will the role involve?

As an ICA Technician, you will be required to work unsupervised in remote geographic locations and be accountable for the completion of planned and reactive ICA tasks within agreed time-scales, quality and cost parameters. Candidates will be expected to manage and prioritise your own workload effectively and to build and maintain relationships with operational customers, colleagues, suppliers and contract partners. Adhering to the Health and Safety policy and standards actively identifying hazards, providing mitigation and reporting onto the company hazard database to ensure the cause of the hazard is removed.

You will be required to supervise approved Contract Partners, providing risk assessments and method statements where permit to work is required for a given task. You will also be required to use a Toughbook to capture all work activity and job status in line with work flow processes. Assist in the development and training of apprentices as well as less experienced members of the team, identifying ways to improve the value and service delivered by the Maintenance Function. Installation & commission new plant and equipment to relevant standards is essential. Diagnosing and repairing faults on systems and plant.

You will pro-actively identify and report follow on work or areas for enhancement. You will conduct your own risk assessments and create appropriate method statements when required to safely carry out maintenance activities. The successful candidate will have the ability to specify parts and equipment required for procurement as part of day to day role. As part of this role, you will be required to participate in a stand-by rota, covering your base and any other areas when required. This will typically be 1 week in 7.

What skills are we looking for?

It is an essential requirement that you hold a recognised Electrical Craft/Technician Apprenticeship and either a City & Guilds/ ONC/ BTEC/ NVQ/ HNC/ HND or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Eng Tech.

It is desirable that you hold some of the following qualifications:

  • IET 17th Edition Wiring Regulations City and Guilds 2382
  • CompEx 1 – 4
  • HNC Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Safety Systems Practitioner (TUV) training course for the higher-level craft
  • Mitsubishi PLC / HMI programming
  • AB SLC500 PLC programming training

You will be required to visit sites across the Yorkshire Region therefore a full valid and clean EU driving licence is essential.

It is a mandatory requirement that you can demonstrate experience and knowledge in:

  • Safe isolation to the current IET regulations
  • As a time served industrial electrician
  • Fault finding on control circuits up to the PLC
  • Maintaining pressure, level & flow monitoring systems
  • IT literate eg MS office
  • Ability to produce maintenance reports

It is desirable that you can demonstrate experience and knowledge in:

  • Ability to program PLC, including Allen Bradley & Mitsubishi equipment
  • Experience fault finding and maintaining telemetered systems
  • Experience fault finding and maintaining SCADA / HMI / PLC / PROFIBUS / Ethernet
  • Certified Installer
  • Experience of maintaining, calibration and certification of analytical instrumentation
  • Experience of maintaining, calibration and certification of flow monitoring equipment
  • Fault finding on control circuits
  • Experience of fault finding and repair of Safety instrumented Loops
  • Experience of fault finding with industrial motors and starters
  • Experience fault finding with industrial 3 phase systems
  • Experience working with rotating equipment
  • Experience of pneumatics
  • Safety systems training such as TUV Practitioner
  • Experience fault finding and maintaining PLC / HMI systems
  • Work within ATEX standards
  • Experience of maintaining, and fault finding on PROFIBUS
  • Experience of maintaining, and fault finding on communication networks
  • Experience of maintaining UPS systems
  • Fault finding experience of soft start or variable speed drives
  • Fault finding experience of actuated valves

Ideally, you will have previous experience gained within the water or waste water sectors or within the broader utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors. Experience within an ICA environment or site based fault diagnosis and repair on complex processes and control equipment. It is also desirable that you have experience of fault finding and repair of point to point communications via private wire, setting up, faulting finding and repairs of point to point radio networks. It is also desirable that you have worked with the following: Experience of Profibus installations Fault finding and minor modifications on PLC's (Allen Bradley / Mitsubishi) Experience of SCADA (IFIX) systems Working knowledge of a wide range of analytical Instrumentation e.g. Chlorine, Dissolved Oxygen, Turbidity, Colour, Nitrate, Sludge Density Experience of Pressure, level and Flow Instrumentation, Confined Space working Work within ATEX standards
