To enable the strategic change required to implement the “Blueprint for Yorkshire”, Yorkshire Water has embarked upon a number of business and technology programmes of change to enhance its already extensive portfolio of technology and information systems, impacting all areas of Yorkshire Water and the Kelda Group. To support the development of an improved architectural capability within its IT function, the creation of Enterprise Architecture and Solutions Architecture functions has resulted in a number of new Architecture roles. What this role will involve
Your role will report to the Data & Information Architecture Manager and will be responsible for the design and development of enterprise data & information architectures that integrate with business process architectures to maximise the effectiveness of business activities.
The architectures and designs delivered by this role will enable the delivery of strategic business capabilities, defined through the Enterprise Architecture function, while providing support and guidance in the delivery of tactical solutions.
As Data Architect you will be instrumental in ensuring robust and sustainable frameworks and models are valued within the business and integrated into the decision making process. You will ensure consistent adoption and adherence to design principles, processes and policies.
The Data Architect is accountable for the architectural and “big picture” oversight for the design and implementation of data related decisions and adherence to the data & information principles.
You will define and implement enterprise data & information models for Kelda, such that they form an essential part of the decision making process across the architecture and design functions. In doing so you will establish and drive adherence to data policies, procedures and standards.
Ensure all data related risks and opportunities at an enterprise level are understood and the implications managed through robust data and process designs.
Drive/support the creation of investment/business cases based on agreed roadmaps to deliver new capabilities or mitigate risk in existing capabilities.
Significant experience interpreting complex business requirements.
Detailed knowledge of data and information architectures and technologies.
Detailed understanding of conceptual and logical data models and their creations and use in a large organisation.
Knowledge of business process management principles.
Understanding of architectural roles, domains, methodologies and design strategies.
Experience of undertaking leadership for a team of senior architectural and design roles, providing direction and influence to ensure completion of activities.
Experience of developing and maintaining effective internal and external relationships at senior levels within an organisation
Extensive knowledge of the system development lifecycle.
Excellent knowledge and understanding of service continuity planning and IT/Data/Information security.
Ability to absorb complex technical information and communicate effectively to all levels, both technical and non-technical audiences.
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Direct experience of leading & embedding change.
BCS, TOGAF or equivalent certification in Enterprise and Solutions Architecture.
